Long before a wave meets the shore, it exists only as energy. Invisible at first, it is continually shaped by the wind and the seafloor until motion becomes form.

WAVE is the first release in the Nagare Collection, a series exploring the beauty of flow through deep relief engraving. This first piece looks to the ocean, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese woodblock prints and modern studies of wave motion to create an abstract interpretation of moving water.

Rather than depicting a single moment, the engraving gives form to movement itself. Deep relief carving leaves polished stainless ridges standing proud while recessed channels are finished in a rich ocean blue. Sandblasted foam accents soften the transitions, creating contrast between reflective crests and textured water. As the marker turns in the light, highlights shift across the surface, revealing new layers of depth and movement from every angle.

Every marker is individually engraved, color-finished, and hand-refined to preserve the crisp separation between polished crests, textured foam, and recessed water. The finish is intentionally restrained, allowing depth, texture, and changing light to become part of the design rather than competing with it.

The reverse strips away the movement of the front, centering the Japanese kanji for wave above the Swell Marks motto—Know the break. Mark your spot. A quiet balance to the energy carried on the opposite side.
