Red Fin | B•001

FIN THEORY · FIBERGLASS · RESIN · LIMITED BATCH

A shape from the past,
a little glass and resin,
a new line to follow.

Every fin has a story. This is where ours begins.

Red Fin is the first release in Fin Theory, a limited series of golf ball markers inspired by the history, design, and craftsmanship of surfboard fins.

The Inspiration

In 1965, Mike Hynson introduced his distinctive Red Fin through Gordon & Smith Surfboards. Made from laminated fiberglass, its swept-back dorsal profile and flowing cutaway reflected an era when surfboard design was evolving through experimentation, innovation, and an understanding of how shapes move through water.

More than sixty years later, that same spirit of experimentation finds its way into the Swell Marks garage.

Red Fin B•001 takes inspiration from the original's unmistakable color, flowing lines, and fiberglass construction, reimagining a small piece of surfing history for the putting green.

Garage Built. Ocean Inspired.

Each Red Fin begins with a shaped blank, worked by hand to create pockets for fiberglass and resin. The glass is cut, laid into place, and filled with resin before being left to cure. Once hardened, each piece is sanded, shaped, and polished individually.

The process leaves its own fingerprints. Fiberglass weave reveals itself beneath the resin, colors shift slightly, and subtle differences in texture and finish give each marker its own character.

No two are exactly alike. That's part of the appeal.

These aren't factory-perfect reproductions. They're small-batch pieces built in a garage, shaped by experimentation, and finished with the same appreciation for materials and craftsmanship that inspired the collection.

One Batch. One Chapter.

25 markers. No restocks.

Red Fin B•001 marks the beginning of Fin Theory. Once this batch is gone, the series moves forward to a different fin, a different color, and another story from surfing's history.

Each release is its own chapter. B•001 is where it all starts.

Know the Break. Mark Your Spot.

Each Fin Theory marker is finished individually by hand. Natural variations in fiberglass weave, resin, color, and surface character are part of the piece.
